DESCENTE ALLTERRAINOne of the most well-known contributions from 19th-century American architect Louis Sullivan to the Modernist art and design realm is his aphorism "form follows function." This statement, rather than promoting visual simplicity, highlights the concept that an object's exterior is a reflection of its internal construction and usage. In designing winter outerwear for Japanese athletes participating in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, Descente ALLTERRAIN's lead designer Mitsuru Yamada drew on the brand's extensive knowledge in alpine sportswear. The resulting Mizusawa Down jacket, as well as the rest of the Descente ALLTERRAIN collection, features advanced technical elements - such as welded seams, high-quality down insulation, and durable fabrics - that bring Sullivan's maxim to life in visually stunning and highly functional designs.
